As Compliance Officer, Shim applies the same legal discipline to how Steve & Co Asia operates internally, reviewing our own structures and obligations so our governance holds up to the same scrutiny we bring to client work.
David started his career with KPMG. He had a 33 year long career at KPMG, where he was admitted as Partner (April 1990). He played a prominent role as Reporting Accountant for more than 30 IPOs in Bursa Main Markets. He was a chairman in Audit Committee Institute (ACI) between 2006 - 2011 and a chief examiner for MICPA between 1985 - 1995. From 2002 till 2004, he was Chairman of MICPA Code of Ethics Committee and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants Code of Ethics Committee. In May 2013, he was appointed as Council member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales ("ICAEW").
David holds independent Non-Executive Director positions for some main board companies such as Public Investment Bank Berhad (current), Manulife Insurance Berhad (2012-2021), Affin Huang Investment Bank (2012-2021), UM Land Berhad (2012-
2015) Ann Joo Resources Berhad (2013-2018), and currently Ranhill Utilities Berhad, Kawan Food Berhad, Press Metal Holdings Bhd, and Rockwills Trustee Berhad (unlisted).
On the Board of Advisors, Heng brings a governance-first lens to how Steve & Co Asia is run internally, not just how our clients' entities are structured. That means board-level oversight of our own standards, so the discipline we ask of clients is the same discipline we hold ourselves to.
Leong Yuen Yoong is an evidence-based policy leader, serving as Director of Sustainability Studies at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, Asia Headquarters, and Professor of Practice at Sunway University. Her work leverages philosophical principles, systems thinking and advanced modelling to elevate the quality of discourse in decarbonisation and re-carbonisation. She co-leads landmark initiatives, such as the ASEAN Green Future and Science Panel for Borneo, where she translates complex technical analysis into foundational frameworks that inform regional policy and national strategy.
Beyond her academic and policy roles, Yuen Yoong is an experienced Independent Non-Executive Director with a proven track record in strategic oversight and risk management for public-listed companies. She also serves on various advisory panels and holds a Ph.D. in International Manufacturing Strategy and Network Systems from the University of Cambridge’s Institute for Manufacturing, as well as an MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London.
